After a little more than 30 years of making waves on the world of international tourism, it seems like Cancun Real Estate begins to enter a phase where maturity has caught up; none the less, far from loosing dynamism and potential, this destination seems to be at its best moment of its existence, assured Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, State Tourism Secretary of Quintana Roo, detailed the importance that Cancun real estate represents for the national finances and how its adaptation is studied to keep competing in an environment of economic difficulties in a more competed market.

Gonzalez explained that Cancun Mexico is permanently in a “renovation therapy” where the goal is to keep adding attractive tourism that is not only destined to support the water activities as the tip of the spear of the national activity, “it doesn’t matter if the tourist came 10 years ago or last year, the idea is for tourists to always find new things, like the golf courses that didn’t exist a few years ago, the fusion with the Riviera Maya and the Mayan World, cultural and sports events such as the IRONMAN triathlon in Cozumel or the PGA golf tournament in Mayakoba, the Life and Death Festival in Xcaret, or the exciting Jazz festival in the Riviera Maya, without forgetting the arrival of the new boutique-hotels or the renovation many of the hotels had after Hurricane Wilma.

Wilma Hurricane Cancun Mexico

Wilma Hurricane Cancun Mexico

With wind drafts averaging 176 km/h, stationed for a period of more than 36 hours, the least expected was to find Cancun isolated and completely destroyed, and the forecast was confirmed.

When we were able to reach the population, hurricane Wilma had destroyed everything on its way, except our will; even though and for everyone’s surprise, eight hours after the meteor passed by, we had already restored electricity in key locations like hospitals, gas stations, banks and shelters and four days later we had practically restored power in most of the affected zones, said proudly during an interview for Real Estate Market &- Liftstyle, Alfredo Elias Ayub, General Manager for the Federal Electricity Commission.

The year 2005 was very tough due to this fact, but at the same time is one of our biggest accomplishments, said Elias Ayub, while he assures that the key for its success was having a specialized contingency and natural disaster plan, the staff’s preparation and capacity, as well as the discipline and the love every worker puts into their job.
